boaters from one of the Manchester Clubs having fun |
FEDERATION OF Over the weekend of the Spring Bank Holiday, May 25th,26th and 27th over 200 boats attended the Federation s annual rally. This year it was the turn of Bridgewater Motor Boat Club to be the host club. The rain did not dampen the spirits for the boaters who all enjoyed the festivities so much many were reluctant to go home. The theme for the rally was Runcorn by the Sea . Unfortunately the tide never did go out and most were confined to the Beach Cafi or to the bar we had in the huge marquee. During the dry spells the children were kept busy with a Treasure Hunt, colouring competitions, hoop la and many other things. The adults had Auntie Madge s Attic sale to browse around (a big favourite) and hundreds of books to buy for quiet afternoons on the boat.

On the Sunday at the Prize giving ceremony several cheques and donations were handed over to Norma Hornby their Chairwoman, these were from the Federation, the six boat clubs attending, plus Thorn Marine and other personal donations. In all the total came to nearly #1800 which will help the children on their next project in Rumania. Monday morning after breakfast the annual Auction was arranged with the proceeds going to help Childline . In all, the total raised for Childline was over #700 Hilary Foster (Communications Officer)

On December 5th 2006 The Bridgewater Motor Boat
Club presented a cheque for £1,000 to a representative from the McMillan Cancer
Care Runcorn.
The money was raised by the club members, who had
written, performed and produced a variety show called 'The Ladies
Entertain'.
The show was a complete sell out, as was the DVD of
the show filmed especially for the occasion.
